Job Description for Children and Family Worker
Role Summary:

We are keen to appoint a Children and Family Worker to lead our work with children, young people, and families.

The successful candidate will be passionate about working with and discipling children and young people,

helping them and their families towards a relationship with Jesus Christ.

They will work closely with the Minister, Deacons and Children and Youth volunteers,

and will be supported by the Church Administrator in planning and implementing their

 

Programme of work. :

Develop the existing children's work both on Sundays and during the week.

Support the Youth Leadership team (our group of older teenagers who lead aspects of our church mission)

in transitioning the children as they get older

Disciple, equip and nurture the children and young people in the church, supporting them and their families

towards a relationship, or growing relationship, with Jesus Christ.

Build positive relationships with local schools and children and youth organisations, developing links with these organisations

including providing Christian input into the life of the schools and other groups, and promoting church activities to them.

Provide or organise training for those who work with the children or young people.

Encourage and develop good relationships between the children, young people and the wider church community.

Support the youth leadership team in finding ways of reaching out to the young people in our community

who currently have no connection with the church.

Work in prayerful collaboration with the minister, volunteers and Youth Leadership Team to ensure an agreed vision and teaching goals.

Arrange events like Messy Church, activities for younger children, and youth events

Engage and encourage additional volunteers for this area of work

Participate in and occasionally lead Sunday services and at other church events

Managing people and events on ChurchSuite (the IT system used to manage church operations)

with the support of the Church Administrator

Follow and implement best in class safeguarding and health and safety policies and procedures.

A good communicator, who can relate easily to all within the fellowship E

Previous experience working with children and young people E

Terms and Conditions:
Key Terms: The post is part-time 15 hours per week. 28 days paid holiday p.a. pro-rata. (84 hours paid holiday p.a.).

6-month initial short-term contract, however we are willing to offer a full-time position to the right candidate.
Salary: £17.00 per hour (£13,296 p.a. based on 15 hours per week, equivalent to £33,150 p.a. FTE)
Pension: Contributory pension scheme with 5% contribution from the church
Reporting: Postholder reports to the Deacons and Minister
Expenses: All out of pocket expenses will be covered by the church, including mileage allowance.

In addition the postholder will be supplied with a mobile phone and laptop PC.
